Garden paths, paths of hope

Ken Dodd, Look Ahead customer
“I like gardening, I’ve been doing it for over 40 years. I’ve also been working on the garden at Look Ahead’s Bayswater hostel, where I am currently living. When the Chelsea garden came up I was really interested in getting involved. It has been great being part of the team, planning the garden from scratch, organising what plants and materials to use. There is always something to learn.

Everyone’s experience of homelessness is different. Our pathway of hope expresses elements of peoples’ journey. I’m really pleased, our plans have turned out better than I imagined. I want to move on and settle in my own place. I’m 65 now and want a quiet life, hopefully with a garden.”
